Gov.gr.wallet: Premiere today for the digital ticket in the Superleague championship

The curtain opens for the new entrance system at stadiums with the digital ticket on Gov.gr.wallet today at 3pm, at the football match for the Superleague championship between Panserraikos and OFI. Fans need to first register in the National Communication Register (EMY) and input their ticket into their digital wallet. The more prepared ones have already done this, with statistics showing that 4,066,669 registrations have been made in EMY since it started operating in March 2021 until April 11, while approximately 2 million citizens have installed the Gov.gr Wallet on their mobile phones since its launch in July 2022.

Regarding season tickets recently, fans have identified more than 10,000 season tickets in the Gov.gr Wallet (out of about 80,000 total season tickets). However, transferring tickets (single and season) is not possible via the Gov.gr Wallet app, as it is a matter for the football clubs and concerns their policies. Citizens facing any issues with EMY or Gov.gr Wallet can visit support.gov.gr to submit their request. For information on how to ‘download’ gov.gr.wallet, they can click on tickets.gov.gr for a detailed description. For any other queries fans may have, they can contact teams and providers for ticket-related inquiries.

Adaptation Period
There will be an adaptation period for fans until the end of the current competitive period, allowing for parallel operation of both the new and old systems for a month. From September, the new entry method is expected to apply to matches in other sports such as basketball.

Concerning fans over 67 years old, the minister has emphasized that for this age group, there will be a special gate for identification in the traditional way, aiming to reduce the presence of hundreds of police officers at stadiums and ensure proper scrutiny of entrants without necessitating police presence at entrances.

The initiative and responsibility for designing measures to combat hooliganism, the triptych of safe return to stadiums involving legislation, cameras implemented at stadium openings, and now the implementation of digital identification belong to the deputy minister of Sports, Giannis Vroutsis. The Ministry of Digital Governance contributed the technological solution for the 3rd measure, which is the identification of entry into stadiums with the digital ticket.
