Sales of PS5 have exceeded 50 million

The Sony company has announced that sales of the PlayStation 5 have now exceeded 50 million systems worldwide. This achievement was reached on December 9, 2023. According to a report by GamesIndustry, performance-wise, the console is one week behind the PlayStation 4 since its launch. In July, when the PS5 surpassed 40 million units sold, the corresponding “gap” was two months. It is noted that in November, sales of the new generation console in Europe saw a 376% year-over-year increase, while in the US there was a small decrease.

“Reaching this sales milestone for the PS5 is evidence of the unwavering support of the global PlayStation community and their desire for the incredible experiences created by the talented developers from PlayStation Studios and our partners,” said Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“We are grateful to all our players who have joined the PS5 journey so far, and we are thrilled that this is the first holiday season since its release that we can fully meet the demand for the PS5 – so anyone who wants to get one can simply go and buy it.”
